Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about projection mapping, live visuals, and working with Lightbrush in Denver.

What is projection mapping and how does it work? +

Projection mapping is a technique that uses specialized software and high-lumen projectors to turn any physical surface into a dynamic display. By precisely aligning digital content to the contours of buildings, sculptures, stages, or objects, the projected visuals appear to transform the surface itself. Lightbrush has performed 500+ projection mapping shows across Denver, Colorado and nationwide since 2013.

Can you do projection mapping on any surface? +

Pretty much. We've projection mapped buildings (Night Lights Denver on the Daniels & Fisher Tower), 21-foot sculptures (Daniel Popper's "Umi" in Aurora, CO), murals (Denver Walls in RiNo), concert stages (Mission Ballroom, Red Rocks), trees, buses, and even planetarium domes (Fiske Planetarium at CU Boulder). The key is detailed projection-mapping by hand and eye, or a detailed 3D scan of the surface so we can precision-align the content to every contour. If it exists in physical space, we can probably map it.

What do live visuals look like at a concert or festival? +

A VJ (Visual Jockey) is a live visual artist who performs real-time visuals alongside musicians, similar to how a DJ mixes music. Using specialized software, VJs blend pre-made content with live-generated effects that react to the music. Lightbrush provides VJ services for festivals, concerts, and events across Colorado, creating immersive visual experiences on LED walls, projectors, and laser systems. They've performed with CloZee, LSDream, String Cheese Incident, Umphrey's McGee, and many more.

How do you create music videos? +

We use a wide range of tools to fit any budget. For traditional 3D animation we work in Cinema 4D and Unreal Engine. For real-time generative visuals we use NotchVFX, TouchDesigner, and MicrodoseVR. For AI animation we use ComfyUI, AnimateDiff, Deforum, Minimax, Kling, and Luma for long-form keyframe animation and style transfer. Our AI animation for Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" garnered ~16,000 views in its first days. Whether you need a full cinematic production or a budget-friendly AI-driven piece, we have the toolkit to make it happen — delivered worldwide.

Do you create animated logos and brand animation? +

Yes. Lightbrush creates custom animated logos, motion branding, and animated identity design for businesses, artists, festivals, and events worldwide. Using AI animation, 3D motion graphics, and style transfer techniques, we bring static brand assets to life. All animation and branding work is delivered remotely — no geographic limitation.

Does Lightbrush do laser shows in Colorado? +

Yes. Lightbrush is a certified Laser Safety Officer (LSO) and partners with Potent Production and their 11W RGB laser fleet for laser shows. They provide complete atmospheric design including laser shows, uplighting, downlighting, and programmed light choreography for festivals, concerts, corporate events, and private parties across Denver and Colorado.

What is neurofeedback art and how does it work? +

Neurofeedback art is an interactive art form where EEG brainwave-reading headsets allow participants to control projected visuals and lasers with their mind. Lightbrush's lead artist Moe Angelo is a BCN Neurofeedback Specialist who creates installations where your brain activity drives real-time generative visuals. Featured at Suwannee Hulaween's Spirit Lake through work with Because of the Lotus.

How do I book Lightbrush for an event in Denver? +

You can book Lightbrush by filling out the booking form on this page or emailing captain@lightbrushproject.com. They handle events of all scales — from intimate gallery installations to massive festival stages, corporate events, weddings, and permanent installations across Denver, Colorado and nationwide. Early booking is recommended for peak festival season (May–October).

Where has Lightbrush performed? +

Lightbrush has performed at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Meow Wolf Convergence Station, Texas Eclipse, Night Lights Denver (custom animation on the Daniels & Fisher Tower), PORTAL Dome at Psychedelic Science 2025, Suwannee Hulaween, Denver Walls Mural Festival (RiNo Art District), Mission Ballroom, The Fillmore Denver, Fiske Planetarium (CU Boulder), Mirus Gallery, SCOPE Art Show (NFT animation), and is the lead VJ and projection mapper for George Clinton's first P-Funk Festival. Permanent installations include the Daniel Popper "Umi" sculpture at Aurora Highlands, Colorado. Moe is also co-founder of VI Jam Fest in St. John, USVI.
